The Anaheim Ducks have taken a 2 games to none advantage over the Ottawa Senators in the Stanley Cup finals. The home crowd, the 33rd consecutive sellout, got everything they wanted and more. The Ducks won 1-0, and the winning goal game in the last few minutes of the third period. Anaheim is hoping to reverse their fortunes this year to make up for when the New Jersey Devils snatched the Cup out of their hands a few years ago in seven hard-fought games.
Ottawa is currently the darling of the Canadian fans, and should they come back and win Lord Stanley's Cup, they would be the first team from north of the border to win since the Montreal Canadiens beat the Los Angeles Kings in 1993.
Hockey, unfortunately, is being given the bum's rush in America because the only station showing their games nationwide is the extremely hard to find VERSUS channel. My cable supplier just added Versus this year, but you have to update your system with a special tier that has some lousy channels on it in order to see it. From this point on, NBC will be broadcasting the remaining Cup games. Maybe if the ratings are good, we can get more NBC broadcasted games next year.
Hockey was also greatly damaged by the lost season a couple of years ago after of the usual primadonna posturing that resulted in a lockdown because hockey players want to be overpaid like football, baseball, and basketball players, and hockey just doesn't have the following needed to command those salaries.
The ticket scalpers, on the other hand, did OK, with seats near the ice going for as much as $5000 per game in Anaheim.

Chief Jack's Hacked Web Site Restored

One of my Sites, The Mohawk Reporter, was hacked by the Feds earlier this year, but after a month-long fight, it's back to its former status and fully operational. The Mohawk Reporter deals with UFOs, paranormal events, cryptozoology, dinosaurs, science, and government conspiracies. We were invaded and censored because we revealed the truth about what really happened on 9/11, and the government plot that led to it.
We have now been fully restored after threats to go to the mainstream press with this, although I can't understand why they didn't just opt to off me instead. I guess it's because the truth is so weird that they think no one will believe it.

Little Green Men: Are They Real?
Are there really space aliens darting about in our skies and examining humans? Of course there are, and so far none of them have been green. Let's look at why they look the way they do in the following article:

Waiting For The CRB Decision

As many of you know, the Copyright Royalty Board is stupidly trying to kill Internet radio by hiking royalty rates to an astronomical level. My Mohawk Radio station and show on Live365 are currently on hiatus because of this. Under the newly-proposed rates, I would have to pay at least $185,000 for 2007 royalties, and some Internet stations would have to pay over $500,000. The latest proposal would TRIPLE these rates within two years.
The CRB says these rates are necessary in order for the musicians to receive "fair use" royalties, but in fact, most of the money the CRB/Sound Exchange now collects goes into the pockets of Sound Exchange and very little reaches the artists.
What this means, of course, is that since almost none of the Internet broadcasters could afford the new rates, we will have to close down. This means the artists would LOSE tons of money, so how idiotic is this?
There is currently a new bill, HR2060, which would set very fair rates for the Internet and allow us to continue to entertain you. Let's hope this bill passes so I can get back on the air and start my 39th year on radio.
